Secret Loves

Right, we all have secret obsessions, mine tend to be ridiculous, but really, i'm a child at heart.
I have a weakness for watching Disney Channel everyday and secretly, i'm really in love with Sterling Knight <3
I know its completely stupid, and he's 'one of those disney famous people' but i can't help it.
Look at him and tell me he's not gorgeous <3

Sterling Knight;

Also i seem to have a weird crush on Ed Byrne, no idea why, i just think hes adorably nerdy and just plain fit. I'm a strange person with strange taste yes.
It seems i have a thing for comedians, because i find Dylan Moran oddly attractive too, and Andrew Maxwell, and strangely Alan Davis.
Insane, no?

Idols/Inspiration

Ok so basically this blog is about the two bands who have been my idols for years, one since i can remember and the other for three years now.
Elliot Minor and Green Day.

First of all i'm going to rant about Green Day.
I can remember hearing 'Boulevard Of Broken Dreams' on the radio in 2004 and repeatedly asking my mum who sang it. She eventually got sick of me asking so when my dad bought her 'American Idiot' for christmas she 'lent' it to me. Needless to say she never got it back.
My obsession with their music really started there. After i had learned off all the lyrics to every song on the album, my mum bought me 'Dookie'. I fell even more in love with them then. I got posters, t-shirts, wristbands, i even got a note pad and sticky notes that had Green Day logos on them, you cant really blame an eleven year old for wanting merch now can you?
I got almost every album in their back catalogue and learned off nearly every song.
Since then, they really have meant so much to me. I got sick of them for a while because i was getting grief about being obsessed with them, which i admit i was quite, but then when they became 'cool' again, some of my friends at school started freaking out over them and i was the one they came to get answers from. I felt great, having known about them first, but nevertheless, their obsession turned out to be handier than mine, as Green Day came back to Ireland twice within a year.
I saw them in October 2009 and it was one of the best gigs of my life. We had seating with a perfect view of the stage, but my stupid camera had to die and then the spare batteries had to be absolutely shite and not work at all. I almost cried at the batteries, but i did cry when they played 'Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life)' because when Billie Joe came out onto the extention with his acoustic guitar, it hit me that i was finally seeing my favourite band.
I couldn't see them in June 2010 though, because the last exam of my Jr. Cert., incidentally music, was on that morning. I was devestated but i couldn't do anything about it, unless i wanted to fail my Jr. Cert. So basically, what i'm trying to say is, Green Day mean more to me than comes across. I've always loved them, always have, and i don't think that'll ever fade.

Now for the strange bit, Elliot Minor.
I know most people think they're a shite band, preppy and too pop-rocky, but this band means more than the world to me. I don't think i can have a conversation with someone without Elliot Minor being brought up somehow.
I heard them back in August 2007, i can't remember which song, it was either 'Parallel Worlds' or 'She Gets Around' but i didnt think much of it then. I listened to them a few times on and off, i wanted to go to their concert in the November in Whelans but nobody would go with me so i couldn't. In January 2008, there was an add in 'The Star' for Elliot Minor playing in The Academy on valentines day. It was only fifteen quid so i convinced my dad that i could go because it was a day time gig and i could get Bekki to come with me, so i'd be grand.
I fell absolutely in love with them so much at that concert.
After that, their first album came out and i already had all the demo versions of every song and the non album songs.
I saw them again in May 2008, and it was at their album signing that afternoon that i met three of my best friends, Amy, Ammo and Hannah. After the signing, i headed into town where i met up with my friends and we went to que outside The Ambassador. The gig was amazing, and somehow i managed to get up to the front even though i was one of the last ones in the venue.
I met Teddy, Alex and Ed that night, and i have to say they were much nicer than i expected them to be, even if another fan and myself got jammed in the doorway with Alex and Ed.
I became slightly obsessed with them throughout the course of May until November, when they came back. Once again i went to see them and once again it was amazing.
From then, i had to wait until July 2009 to see them again, i can safely say, if they hadn't come sooner i would have gone insane.
They came back again in December 2009, for their new album promo and i almost died because when Teddy walked on stage, he smiled straight at me and nodded his head in recognition.
Since then, i haven't seen them, but i'm going to on the 25th of this month.
The worst news ever came to Elliot Minor fans across the world last weekend, Ali Paul, the indian pianist, had decided that the September tour was going to be his last with the band and he was going to pursue things other than music.
I cried my eyes out, but realised how special we would have to make his last tour.
I can't imagine 'Minor without Ali, but i can assume he chose to leave for good reasons and i wish him all the best in his actions outside 'Minor.

So basically, that's it. Elliot Minor and Green Day are the two bands who have shaped me to who i am today, and sometimes i don't know whether thats a good or bad thing, but i wouldn't change it.
You can judge me for my favourite bands and i wont care. They are my life.
Peace♥
